Job Description

Veterinary Assistant – Clifton Hollow Animal Hospital (Poulsbo, WA)

Join a Team That Truly Invests in You — Competitive Pay, Great Hours, and Outstanding Benefits

Clifton Hollow Animal Hospital is a well-established, privately owned small-animal practice in beautiful Poulsbo, WA. We’re expanding our team and are looking for a compassionate, motivated Veterinary Assistant who wants to grow their skills, feel valued, and be part of a practice that prioritizes work-life balance and a supportive, positive culture.

Unlike many local clinics offering basic packages, we intentionally designed a compensation and benefits program that beats our region’s market standards — making Clifton Hollow one of the best places for veterinary support staff to build a career.

Compensation:

To remain one of the most competitive employers in the North Kitsap area, we offer:

  • Entry-Level Pay: $19–$21/hr
  • Experienced Assistants (3+ years): $22–$26/hr
  • Top-Tier Candidates: Up to $27/hr depending on anesthesia/surgical skillset
  • Optional sign-on bonus for highly experienced candidates

These ranges outperform typical Poulsbo/Silverdale/Gig Harbor general-practice postings ($18–$23/hr) and rival top-paying clinics in the region.

Why You’ll Love Working at Clifton Hollow:

  • You’ll join an experienced, supportive, and genuinely kind team that values mentorship and collaboration.
  • We maintain a positive, drama-free culture where people stay long-term because they feel appreciated.
  • We invest in your professional growth with hands-on skills training, cross-training opportunities, and career pathways toward technician licensing.
  • As a privately owned practice, we have the flexibility to support your goals, respect your time, and build schedules that work for your life.

Exceptional Benefits & Perks (Beyond the Local Standard):

Most nearby clinics offer the basics. We offer the basics AND the differentiators that assistants actually care about:

Core Benefits:

  • Dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous Paid Time Off + sick leave
  • Paid holidays
  • Employee pet-care discount (20%)
  • Uniform/scrub allowance

Professional Growth:

  • Annual CE stipend ($250–$500) for Veterinary Assistants — rare among local clinics
  • Mentorship in areas such as anesthesia, surgical prep, dental radiographs, lab diagnostics
  • Support for assistants pursuing licensure (LVT pathway)

Life & Family Benefits:

  • Flexible scheduling with predictable hours
  • Opportunity for 4/10 workweeks depending on staffing

Together, this package places Clifton Hollow among the most competitive employers in the area — including against larger corporate and ER facilities.

Schedule:

We value work–life balance. Our ideal schedule options include:

  • Consistent weekday shifts
  • Potential 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts)
  • N o weekends depending on experience and staffing
  • No overnights, holidays, or ER-style shifts

What You’ll Do:

As a Veterinary Assistant at Clifton Hollow, you will support our medical team in areas such as:

  • Animal restraint, patient handling, and fear-free techniques
  • Surgical prep, anesthesia support (based on experience), and recovery monitoring
  • Blood draws, sample collection, in-house diagnostics, and laboratory tasks
  • Client communication and education
  • Maintaining clean, organized treatment areas and exam rooms
  • Assisting veterinarians and technicians with daily procedures and appointments

Whether you are new to the field or an experienced assistant looking for a better environment, we meet you where you are and help you grow.

You’re a Great Fit If You:

  • Are compassionate, reliable, and eager to learn
  • Thrive in a collaborative, supportive team
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Want a long-term home where your contributions matter

How to Apply?

We’d love to meet you!
Please submit your résumé — and a brief note sharing what excites you about joining Clifton Hollow — through this job posting or directly via email.

Come grow with a practice that truly values its team.
We can’t wait to welcome you to Clifton Hollow Animal Hospital.
