FORESTRY TECHNICIAN (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) / GOLD FIELDS DISTRICT / FOLSOM SECTOR/ FOLSOM LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA

The reporting location for this position is the Folsom Sector Office at 7755 Folsom-Auburn Rd, Folsom, CA 95630 . Under the close supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief I, t his position will assist natural resource management staff in the Sector in implementing projects for the protection, restoration, and management of natural resources in support of the State Parks Wildfire and Forest Resilience Program. Working cooperatively with the District Environmental Scientists (DES), the Forestry Technician (PI) assists natural resource management staff in the Sector in implementing projects for the protection, restoration, and management of natural resources in support of the State Parks Wildfire and Forest Resilience Program. The position works closely with seasonal field staff and contracted labor crews conducting technical resource management. The Forestry Technician participates in the prescribed fire as part of the district’s burn team. The incumbents schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This position may work up to 1500 hours per year.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR .
