VALUATION DATA COORDINATOR: DEPARTMENT OF REAL PROPERTY TAX SERVICES

HOURS: All shifts as assigned SALARY: $23.03 per hour

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The Valuation Data Coordinator involves responsibility for continuous updates to parcel and sales data, regulation interaction with assessors, taxpayers, and municipal officials, and preparation of annual and ongoing valuation projects and roll processing. While operating under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Real Property Tax Services, the incumbent exercises considerable independent judgment in carrying out day-to-day responsibilities. This position is a valuable support role that meets ORPTS qualifying experience requirements for assessor candidates and is an integral part of maintaining compliance and service levels in Wyoming Countys Real Property Tax Services Department. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school, or possession of an accredited high school equivalency diploma and EITHER:

A. Two (2) years of full-time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, in real property tax administration; data entry and coordination related to property assessment, taxation, or finance; financial services involving the review and maintenance of records; or work in the real estate field; OR

B. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of, or current enrollment in, valuation, appraisal, or real property assessment courses, such as those offered by the New York State Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPTS) for assessor certification, the Appraisal Institute, or other recognized professional organizations.

NOTES:

Real property tax administration experience may include work in an assessors office, real property tax services office, or other government agency responsible for property assessment and taxation.

Finance or banking experience may include duties such as loan/mortgage processing and review, escrow account management, property-related lending, reconciliation of financial records, or other work involving detailed documentation and compliance.

Data entry and coordination experience must be directly related to property valuation, assessment roll maintenance, municipal records management, or financial recordkeeping.

Real Estate experience may include property sales, appraisal assistance, market analysis, or property management where duties involved research and documentation of property characteristics and values.

Volunteer experience will be accepted if it is equivalent in nature to the paid work experience required for the position.

THE INCUMBENT WILL BE A PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT.

Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/ U.S. Secretary of Education; or equivalent foreign country degree.
