Job Description

Camellia Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Preschool Assistant in our Cherry Blossom Preschool class for the 2025-2026 school year.

Summary of Position :

The Preschool Assistant operates under the supervision of the Preschool Teacher and works closely with the Preschool Teacher to help in creating an exceptional Waldorf Early Childhood experience for our students.

Preschool Assistant job responsibilities include but are not limited to :

· Assist lead teacher with the overall rhythm and tasks in the classroom;

· Assist lead teacher in preparing the classroom and play yard each day;

· Maintain general order, cleanliness, and aesthetics in classroom and yard;

· Preparing and cleaning up from snacks;

· Classroom management and supervision of the students, under the direction and guidance from the lead teacher;

· Nurture, protect, and guide the children through love and warmth;

· Providing bathroom support to preschool students;

Applicants should meet the following requirements and Qualifications :

• Have a minimum of 6 core ECE units and be in progress toward more units - 12 preferred (required before first day of work, transcripts required);

· Live Scan background screening (required before first day of work);

· TB risk assessment/clearance (required before first day of work);

· CPR/first aid certification preferred, or willing to obtain training.

• Familiarity with Waldorf teaching philosophy, or interest and willingness to learn;
• Possess a keen sense of awareness of their environment (multi-tasker, alert to surroundings);
• Friendly and approachable (with students and parents);
• Positive, energetic personality enjoys working with children;
• Patient, understanding, able to follow instructions and adhere to specific schedules;
• Can meet the physical demands of working with Preschool-aged children (bending, stooping, walk on uneven surfaces, floor work, lifting children);
• Able to manage students in a classroom and playground setting;
• Strict adherence to school policies and ability to interpret and enforce rules.

Hours : 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with potential for additional hours

Job Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Pay Rate : $18-20 per hour, depending on education and experience
