We are seeking a motivated GIS Specialist to join our Cedar Rapids office. This role will support engineering and environmental projects by creating, maintaining, and analyzing spatial data and developing maps, applications, and tools to support project delivery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in GIS technology, and eager to apply their expertise to projects that improve our clients’ communities.

What You’ll Do

• Create and maintain GIS databases, perform data analysis, and produce high-quality maps and graphics.
• Support engineering and environmental teams with GIS deliverables for transportation, water, wastewater, stormwater, site development, and environmental projects.
• Collect, process, and integrate survey, CAD, and field data into GIS platforms.
• Develop custom GIS tools, applications, and workflows to improve efficiency and data visualization.
• Manage geospatial data from public and private sources to support project requirements.
• Conduct spatial analysis to support planning, modeling, and decision-making.
• Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and exhibits using GIS outputs.
• Provide technical support and training to staff on GIS tools and applications.
  

What It Takes

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in GIS roles; internship or project-based experience considered.
• Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related extensions).
• Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) and integrating CAD with GIS.
• Knowledge of GPS data collection tools and mobile GIS applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
