About Logansport State Hospital:

Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness. Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community.

Role Overview:

The Behavioral Clinician provides one-on-one behavioral therapy to adult patients. This role involves implementing individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment plans to help patients develop communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors. Behavioral Clinicians work directly with patients in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting, accurately collect and record behavioral data, and reinforce positive behaviors using evidence-based strategies. They maintain clear communication with families and other professionals to ensure consistent progress and treatment effectiveness. Behavioral Clinicians are expected to uphold ethical standards, maintain confidentiality, and conduct themselves professionally at all times.


Salary Statement
:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $41,210.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.


A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Lead psychotherapy groups developed according to patient needs on assigned unit(s).
  • Provide individual therapy to select patients as determined by the patient and program needs.
  • Serve as a psychological consultant to all service line staff (e.g., diagnosis, intervention, interpersonal communication, etc.).
  • Actively participate in enhancing psychological programming.
  • Conduct psychology initial, annual assessments, and psychological testing.
  • Provide case management of patients.
  • Complete Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Support Plans.
  • Complete written documentation according to hospital and department guidelines.
  • Remain current on state of the art and evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention (e.g., reading, consulting with colleagues, attending training, etc.).
  • Provide psychological education and training.
  • Remain current on Joint Commission standards as related to the provision of mental health assessment and treatment in a hospital setting.
  • Attend assigned treatment team meetings.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Must have a Master's Degree in Psychology or related field.
  • Ability to provide psychological services such as assessment and treatment, that are consistent with current standards of practice.
  • Ability to respond to and effectively implement supervisory feedback.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to utilize required hospital technology.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to learn quickly.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
